Under general supervision, employs a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures related to maintenance and upkeep of greenhouse facilities. Additional responsibilities will include day-to-day operation and maintenance of a research facility related to pesticide application technology.

Salary Grade:  13

Greenhouse/ Pesticide Application technology facility manager

Anticipated Appointment Date:

September 2025. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate oversight and management of all greenhouses located at the Plant Science Research Center, Dorman Hall, and the Clay Lyle Entomology Complex.
2. Facilitate maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all greenhouse structures
3. Facilitate scheduling of greenhouse space utilization across multiple academic departments, research centers and institutes, and other users
4. Oversight and management of pesticide application technology facility
5. Maintenance, repair, and upkeep of pesticide application technology facility
6. Demonstrates and applies thorough understanding of scientific methods, research protocols, assessment instruments, and data interpretation.
7. Designs, performs, and/or oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.
8. Independently performs most research assignments with instructions as to the general results expected; receives guidance on unusual or complex problems.
9. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
10. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
11. Lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related discipline.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with the education and/or experience of the candidate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters in related discipline

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

General knowledge of greenhouse use and maintenance
General knowledge of pesticide application and products
Ability to work with a broad spectrum of stakeholders from students and faculty to industry partners

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to work in many environmental conditions
