Position Function:
General duties: Responsible for receiving, organizing, verifying, preparing, and distributing diagnostic specimens to multiple laboratory sections. Perform specific business activities to support the Business Manager's office. This position collaborates with internal lab personnel and external clients as part of a team.
Salary Grade: 12

Area of Specialization:
MS Veterinary Research & Diagnostic Lab
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participates in the reception of diagnostic samples, reviews documentation that accompanies samples.
2. Reviews that the samples are received, properly preserved, and labeled.
3. Registers samples into the Lab Information Management System (LIMS), determining the correct test code, labeling, and routing to the proper laboratory section.
4. Performs additional reviews and monitoring of submission information of samples for state or federal regulatory testing and surveillance.
5. Prepares, packs, and completes shipment arrangements for samples to be submitted to other laboratories as referrals, following the requirements of receiving laboratories.
6. Enters diagnostic results into the LIMS of referred samples.
7. Participates in the ordering process for laboratory supplies by entering and reviewing the orders in the procurement portal.
8. Reviews invoices, reconciles bank statements.
9. Answers and routes phone calls
10. Assists with lab customers' billing and invoicing at the end of the month.
11. Serves as back up for accounts payable.
12. All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in science, business, or arts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent multitasking skills.
• Skill in the use of computers and working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software packages.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards

* Work is normally performed in a typical interior/laboratory work environment.
* No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
* No or very limited physical effort required.
* Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
