Facilitate Extension program planning and staff development processes and teach one course each year in Agricultural Education, Leadership and Communication (AELC).

Department Profile:

The School of Human Sciences provides education, research, and outreach programs related to human interaction and relationships, early childhood, child life, youth, adult and family studies, and teacher education in Family and Consumer Sciences and Agricultural Education. In addition, selected School programs focus on commerce, marketing, and using technology for problem-solving and designing programs and projects. MSU Extension’s Program and Staff Development team, also located in the School, is dedicated to building the professional, programmatic, and evaluation knowledge and capacity of MSU Extension professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate Extension program planning and staff development processes.
• Consult with Extension faculty and implement program planning and evaluation efforts.
• Develop educational materials and publications related to Extension program development, planning, and evaluation, and staff development.
• Coordinate in-service educational programs related to program development, planning, and evaluation, and staff development for Extension field staff and faculty.
• Use effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and techniques to build and maintain relationships with Extension professionals at county, state, regional, and national levels.
• Teach one course each year in program planning, evaluation, Extension education, or related topics.
• Advise graduate students.
• Chair and serve on thesis and doctoral committees.
• Provide formal and nonformal education through distance education methods (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Teams).
• Maintain a program of scholarship (i.e., research) related to Extension program and staff development.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications for Assistant Professor:
• Earned doctorate in Extension education or a related field (ABD will be considered)
• Experience in Extension, teaching, research, or a related area

Minimum Qualifications for Associate Professor:
• Earned doctorate in Extension education or a related field
• Experience in Extension, teaching, research, or a related area
• Awarded or pending tenure at a comparable university or have at least four years of experience and an outstanding record of scholarly productivity

ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):

Yes. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Evidence of computer/technology skills, including distance education
• Ability to interpret research and technical information for the public
• Evidence of success in competitive extramural funding
• Evidence of conducting research through design, implementation, and evaluation
