The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking to hire a Classroom and Laboratory Instructional Technician.

Salary Grade:  13

Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges.  For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Veterinary Medical Technology Program

Anticipated Appointment Date:

November 2024. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be a member of a teaching team and will assume teaching responsibilities in the junior and senior years of the VMTP. Teaching responsibilities will include classroom and laboratory experiences.
The successful candidate will serve the VMT team on the admissions committee and Program Advisory Committee.

Minimum Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in relevant career area
DVM or CVT who is or can be licensed in the state of Mississippi
CVT applicant must have a BS in Veterinary Medical Technology
Experience with clinical procedures for both large and small animals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Educational experience in veterinary medicine is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both students and coworkers.
2. Records maintenance skills.
3. Ability to work safely and effectively with both large and small animals to teach common clinical procedures.
4. Skill in use of computers and related software applications.
5. Ability to effectively teach and hold attention in various learning environments.
6. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
7. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
8. Knowledge of human resources process, procedures, and documentation, as applicable to a public institution.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Labs occur in both indoor and outdoor environments during various times of the year.
2. Requires some heavy lifting.
3. Requires standing for 4+ hours at a time.
4. Requires occasional bending and squatting.
