Position Function:
This is an intermittent position with irregular hours. The primary function of individuals in this position is to assist the full-time staff of the MSU Riley Center in preparation, execution, and deconstruction of all performance/event related equipment in the facility's various spaces. The primary focus will be on, but not limited to, performances/events in the Grand Opera House space. Individuals in this position will primarily report to the Technical Director of the MSU Riley Center, but may, at times, be asked to assist other full-time staff. This position will, at times, be working with various touring crews for national touring shows and well-known artists. Therefore, a respectable level of decorum is required.

The Mississippi State University Riley Center is a Performing Arts and Conference Center that opened in 2006 in Meridian, Mississippi. We host more than 25 performing arts events as well as over 100 conference events each year. Visit www.msurileycenter.com for more information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Loading/unloading of various types of equipment into and out of MSU Riley Center. Setting up equipment and preparing spaces in the MSU Riley Center for performances/events. Assist with the operation of lights, sound, and various staging elements during performances/events in the MSU Riley Center.
Assist the Technical Director and other full-time staff with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Two years of related experience
-or-
Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to follow clearly communicated, written, and spoken directions and ask for clarification when needed.
A basic understanding of theatrical/event based work and related equipment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Ability to safely lift 40 pounds repetitively over the course of a working day.
Ability to safely work in hot, cold, and dirty environments for extended periods of time.
Ability to stand, stoop, bend, crawl, grab, reach, lift, climb, and other motions related to a physical and active work environment.
