Department Profile:
The Coastal Research and Extension Center is located in Biloxi, MS and is the 'southern exposure' of Mississippi State University.
Anticipated Appointment Date:
December 2024.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assists professors and/or students with agricultural related research projects
2. Operates lab equipment
3. Conducts agricultural related literature reviews
4. Collects and analyzes experimental data
5. Provides ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor
6. Requests or acquires equipment or supplies necessary for the project
7. Prepares research reports, and presentations
8. Performs related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma
Experience (yrs.): None
Licenses:
Must have valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor degree and/or Master’s degree
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Experience with specialized software or datasets, as required by the supervisor
2. Academic and/or work experience related to the field of research
3. Knowledge of research methods
4. Ability to work under pressure
5. Excellent time management skills
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
2. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
