Position Function:
The Behavioral Health Navigator reports to the Assistant Director of MSU Student Counseling Services and serves in the Division of Student Affairs. The Behavioral Health Navigator will provide assistance to faculty and staff for navigating student mental health needs at the assigned embedded site/s.
Salary Grade: 13

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide assistance to faculty and staff regarding student mental health needs
2. Develop content for mental health outreach and training
3. Provide outreach, training, and consultation to faculty and staff at assigned embedded site/s regarding mental health
4. Provide assistance with Student Counseling Services referrals
5. Provide basic assistance with crisis intervention at assigned embedded site
6. Maintain documentation and data regarding consultations, referrals, and training
7. To serve as a liaison with other departments.
8. Attend regularly scheduled Student Counseling Services meetings and training
9. Other duties as assigned.
No supervisory responsibility for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Focus
Education Bachelor’s degree Psychology, Social Work, or other
Mental Health- related field
Experience At least 1 year of experience Practicum/internship
in a clinical setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in mental health and/or higher education or with college seeking students
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Experience, knowledge, and training in mental health
2. Experience in psycho-educational/outreach programming for non-clinical professionals.
3. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with college aged students.
4. Knowledge of and adherence to ethical standards (i.e. confidentiality, FERPA laws)
5. Motivated to function effectively with the organizational and administrative structure of university counseling services.
6. Value involvement and participation within the Division of Student Affairs.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Requires light lifting of items for outreach events. Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility with an exception of 2-3 outdoor outreach events each events.
Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands
Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 10 pounds
