To develop and lead educational and extension programing at The Crosby Arboretum.

Department Profile:
This position will be housed at the Crosby Arboretum in Picayune, MS. The Crosby Arboretum is the premier environmental education facility for the Gulf South. The Arboretum's mission is to preserve and promote the region’s botanical, biological, and cultural heritage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected applicant will be part of The Crosby Arboretum and will be involved with a variety of education and extension program activities. The primary activities for the selected applicant are outlined below but could include any activities associated with The Crosby Arboretum.
These duties will include activities such as, but not limited to:
* Plan, promote, implement, and track all educational programs and native plant sales.
* Conduct site tours, programs, and outreach presentations for community groups, garden clubs, Master Gardeners, and attend community outreach events.
* Plan and implement programs for K-12 school and homeschool groups.
* Supervise volunteers for program assistance.
* Produce and distribute quarterly news journal and quarterly program schedule.
* Promote Arboretum membership and site visitation.
* Pursue outside funding opportunities, including applying for and managing external grants.
* Leading and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of outreach materials, Extension publications, and technical reports.
* Maintain Arboretum historical records.
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in a relevant field such as botany, landscape architecture, or environmental design.
* Two years of relevant work experience i.e. with native plant species, arboreta or botanical gardens, botany, and / or native landscape design and management
* Experience with grant writing;
* Outreach, education, and project management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Must be able to adhere to regular work schedule for this position, which is Tuesday through Saturday with occasional scheduling on evenings and Sundays.
* Must have reliable personal transportation, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel as needed;
* Ability to develop and maintain diverse and robust partnerships;
* Knowledge and computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and publishing software for graphic design and production of program flyers);
* Highly flexible: ability to adapt to a rapidly changing schedule;
* Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize multiple demands;
* Strong oral and written communication skills;
* Ability to apply for, secure, and manage extramural funding.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
*Ability to work in an outdoor environment as needed
