Position Function:
The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine has an Assistant/Associate/Clinical Professor for Small Animal Emergency Medicine and/or Critical Care position available, to work at the Animal Health Center in Starkville.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The new faculty member will join four other faculty members (two assistant professor and two clinical instructors) on the Small Animal Emergency and ICU clinical service rotation, with a part-time board-certified criticalist as well. Service responsibilities involve emergency duty, primary and secondary clinical case management, and consultation with private practitioners. Teaching responsibilities will involve clinical training for veterinary professional students, house officers and veterinary medical technology students enrolled in the academic program. The new faculty member will be expected to play a role in enhancing the quality of patient care and teaching in our Emergency/ICU senior veterinary student rotation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include a DVM or equivalent degree. Applicant must be eligible for licensure in Mississippi. Candidates for the Critical Care role would also be expected to have completed an Emergency/Critical Care residency. Experience in emergency and/or critical care is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience is also preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent telephone and email communication skills, especially related to client service.
Must be capable of working in a team environment comprised of doctors, staff and students to provide veterinary care of patients and aid in the instruction of veterinary students and veterinary technology students.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
