Position Function:
Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for the position of Anatomy Technician. The successful candidate will join our team of anatomy instructors to develop and deliver anatomy instruction to veterinary students at the veterinary teaching facility at the College of Veterinary Medicine. The primary duties of the anatomy lab technician will include the operation, maintenance, technical and teaching support for instructional activities in veterinary anatomy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordination of the cadaver/animal body donation program.
• Preparation of teaching models and specimens including cadaver preparation/embalming.
• Set up and break down of each laboratory teaching or examination session which may require lifting up to 50 pounds or carrying up to 40 pounds.
• Maintenance of inventory and purchasing of learning materials, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Preparation of chemical solutions for the preservation of specimens.
• Enforces compliance with all standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the laboratory.
• Maintains records in compliance with Environment and Health Safety policies and regulations.
• Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent plus minimum of one year relevant experience with animals in a professional setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience with anatomy dissection, medical terminology, and embalming cadavers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Experience working in a team environment
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Have strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
Job frequently requires sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
Job occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
