Position Function:
This Instructor I position will be a joint hire between the College of Arts and Sciences and either the Department of English or the Department of Communication. Course work will include courses taught for the Interdisciplinary Studies degree in the College of Arts & Sciences and courses within the appropriate field of English or Communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of four courses per semester. Courses will be based on the area of discipline for the Instructor I hired plus courses that align with the BSIS degree in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Service includes advising majors and student organizations, developing curriculum, and serving on committees. Service activities within the community and professional disciplines are also recognized as aspects of faculty achievement.
Summer teaching is often available but is not guaranteed. The successful candidate will assist in the continuing development of curriculum in communication or English and interdisciplinary studies concentrations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a Communication or English field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Communication studies or English and prior collegiate teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must have thorough knowledge of the field and a willingness to participate collegially in a broad department. Colleagues must be able to communicate that knowledge in the classroom environment to students as well as to other important groups through scholarship and service.
