Position Function:
We are seeking a motivated individual to serve as a program manager within the Industrial Training and Assessment Center at MSU. The MSU Industrial Training and Assessment Center offers small and medium manufacturing companies in the state of Mississippi an energy and waste study. This is a time-limited, grant funded position.

Department Profile:
Mississippi State University is an R1 institution with very high research activity. The Michael W. Hall School of Mechanical Engineering is one of eight academic departments in the Bagley College of Engineering. The Mechanical Engineering School’s faculty research expenditure is approximately $15.2M annually for 20 tenure/tenure-track faculty. The Mechanical Engineering School offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate program in mechanical engineering, as well as graduate studies leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. The Mechanical Engineering School has approximately 1,000 undergraduate and 100 graduate students and has the largest student enrollment within the Bagley College of Engineering and 2nd largest within Mississippi State University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides programmatic oversight and support for external company assessments and various research projects.
2. Workforce development via student education and programmatic outreach to industry.
3. Recruit companies for energy and waste assessment and study.
4. Recruit undergraduate and graduate students to support operations related to the program
5. May participate in development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, and/or short- and long-term planning.
6. May assist with maintaining unit website and/or social media to maintain a quality organizational brand
7. Assists in managing complex events calendar for unit and senior personnel and coordinating logistics of unit functions and events.
8. Assists in coordinating and managing travel for unit personnel using University travel software and ensuring adherence to University travel protocols.
9. Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.
10. Participates in the development and implementation of unit programs and projects consistent with unit objectives, contractual agreements, and/or funding availability.
11. Develop summary reports, conducts analysis for administrators, and makes recommendations regarding findings.
12. Studies, analyzes, and recommends procedures and processes in order to improve continuity and simplify reporting throughout the unit.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or other degrees related to this position. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated an ability to manage a team and meet assigned deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with experience with energy sector, energy auditing, power generation, HVAC, or alternative energy systems, particularly in the area of manufacturing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Experience with software, such as:
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Shared resources (Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.
• Ability to coordinate a wide variety of tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work functions with attention to details.
• Ability to lead independently as well as in a team setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a broad community.
• Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
• Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience handling sensitive information.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• Ability to navigate uncommon manufacturing environments including but not limited to industrial system rooms.
• Comfort with high and low temperature environments. During all seasons, the team will operate in non-climate-controlled manufacturing facilities.
• Comfort with heights including taking data while on the roof on industrial facilities.
• Experience with project management and working in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to configure software applications to meet specific needs and integrate software systems to enhance data transfer and extraction.
• Ability to integrate data from different sources to enable comprehensive analysis, and ability to create necessary forms to capture data from various stakeholders.
• Experience with maintaining data accuracy and generating data visualization.
• Knowledge and understanding of MSU policies and procedures, including knowledge of Concur and Banner systems, travel policies and procedures, and purchasing guidelines.
• Ability to excel in working with multiple cultures.
