Position Function:

Create and implement strategies for synergies and efficiencies within the Athletics Department. Assists with speaking engagements and various internal and external projects; Cultivate and steward Athletic Department donors and letterwinners; help organize and coordinate events for the Athletic Department and provide customer service for all MSU Athletics stakeholders. Oversee the calendar and operations within Administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives for over 250 employees and over 12 units to increase operational effectiveness.
• Conduct research and provide analysis to support decision-making.
• Ensures that policies and procedures are effectively implemented and followed.
• Serve as a point of contact and liaison with other offices, individuals, and external institutions and agencies in a range of areas.
• Assist with cultivation of donors, letterwinners and special guests of the Athletics Department.
• Lead, organize and facilitate meetings, conferences, and other special events, as required.
• Research information, compile statistics, and gather and compute various data; prepare special and/or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant data from a variety of sources.
• Strategically manage the schedule and operations within the Office of the Athletics Director.
• Ensure the smooth functioning of administrative and operational processes within the organization.
• Author stakeholder communications.
• Utilize knowledge and understanding of operational processes to assist in department-wide planning, problem solving, and development of projects and programs.
• Research information, compile statistics, and gather and compute various data; prepare special and/or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant data from a variety of sources.
• Execute other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director and Deputy AD of Strategic Initiatives & Administration

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises a Fellow position.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, Sports Administration, Business Administration, Management or related field
- Experience: Two years

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with various constituents.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends.
• Knowledge of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
• Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
• Job frequently requires sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
• Job occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
