Position Function:
An instructional technologist must be a credentialed veterinary technologist/ technician who is licensed or eligible to be licensed in the state of Mississippi. The individual must be comfortable with large animals (horses/ cattle). Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Salary Grade: 13

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be a member of a teaching team and will assume teaching responsibilities in the junior and senior years of the VMTP. Teaching responsibilities will include classroom and laboratory experiences
The successful candidate will assist the Coordinator of Recruitment and Advising in recruitment events and advising of potential students.
The successful candidate will serve with the VMT team on the admissions committee
and Program Advisory Committee.
The successful candidate will serve as the Point of Contact for the VMT Class officers and Honors Students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Veterinary technologists/technicians must:
- Have a bachelor’s degree,
- It is not required that the bachelor’s degree be in veterinary medical technology.
- Be licensed as a veterinary technician, and
- Have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
Applicants may be credentialed veterinary technologists/ technicians.
Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Mississippi.
Applicants must be comfortable working with large animals, specifically equine.
Applicants must have a desire to educate veterinary medical technology students, and
teaching experience/educational training is preferred.
Applicants must be proficient in communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent telephone and email communication skills, especially related to client service.
Must be capable of working in a team environment comprised of doctors, staff, and students to provide veterinary care of patients and aid in the instruction of veterinary students and veterinary technology students.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands. Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
