Position Function:
Lead content strategy, storytelling, and digital media efforts for Mississippi State Athletics with an objective of advancing the department’s brand, promoting varsity programs and student-athletes, and engaging fans. This position will work closely with the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Communications & Content, as well as the Assistant AD for Creative Strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide oversight, planning, and direction for all organic social media efforts including primary Hail State Athletics account and team accounts across external platforms such as Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
2. Provide oversight of Communications and Content team members.
3. Create a comprehensive, innovative, and engaging content plan for the department and individual sport programs.
4. Lead content and storytelling strategy for feature stories, daily fan communications, podcast network, and YouTube channel while evaluating strategic long-form opportunities.
5. Lead gameday content strategy and distribution as well as various department and industry initiatives throughout the academic year.
6. Support content needs for internal constituents including administration, Bulldog Club, Bulldog Athlete Services, Bulldog Sports Properties, marketing, sales, fan experience, broadcast, licensing, retail, and concessions as well as for recruiting, NIL, and athlete brand services.
7. Collaborate with Creative Services and Fan Experience units on scheduling, budgeting, planning, and execution of team content shoots for digital distribution and in-venue video productions.
8. Serve as primary contact and oversight for official athletics website, auxiliary sites/pages, and mobile app including search engine optimization (SEO) and push notification strategy.
9. Write, edit, and publish copy and/or generate content for select social media accounts as needed.
10. Collaborate weekly with other department communicators including digital marketing, fan experience, and Bulldog Club to ensure external brand and messaging alignment.
11. Attend, contribute, and lead sport-specific content and storytelling meetings.
12. Work with digital marketing team and Bulldog Sports Properties on driving attendance, generating revenue, and executing digitally sponsored assets including development of television, radio, and digital advertisements and commercials.
13. Assist with execution of Teamworks Influencer platform to better enhance student-athlete’s digital brand.
14. Build and lead successful student program to support content capture and distribution initiatives.
15. Develop and monitor analytics reports to measure effectiveness of social media strategy and messaging.
16. Monitor best practices and trends in organic and branded social content.
17. Attend Mississippi State Athletics related competitions and events.
18. Perform related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
A team of full-time and part-time staff who specialize in social media, writing, storytelling, and content creation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Content Strategy, Digital Strategy, Creative Strategy, Communication or Public Relations, related fields with 3 years of experience in Content Strategy, Creative Strategy, Digital Strategy, Communication or Public Relations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must ensure compliance with NCAA, SEC and University policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and team management skills.
• Ability to travel with the team.
• Required to work quickly, efficiently, and with adaptability under strict deadlines.
• Ability to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of creative and digital media.
• Knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite required, specifically Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects. Experience with Final Cut Pro X & Cinema 4D.
• Proven success producing creative and innovative multi-media content.
• Experience in other multi-media production platforms (web sites, animation, graphic design) desired.
• Knowledge of professional and cinematic video cameras required, including but not limited to Sony FS7, FS5, FS700, a7s.
• Knowledge of a collegiate athletics department and the NCAA structure desired.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
• Work hours are unpredictable and may require including nights and weekends; frequent interruptions based on changing priorities; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
• Job frequently requires sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
• Job occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
