Position Function:
Performs duties related to maintaining general accounts receivable and billing records for clients of the CVM Animal Health Center.
Salary Grade: 09

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the accuracy of all client accounts including any daily/monthly reports submitted to clinicians, administration clients, etc. Responsible for handling, collection, exchange, and storing of large amounts of money on a daily basis, as well transporting to the bank; maintain the security of a safe within the Animal Health Center. Ensure positive communication with clinicians, students, staff, and clients many times during stressful and emotional situations. Work with computer analyst to make changes in system to keep operations up-to-date. Responsible for processing information for referral of accounts to and continued correspondence with Franklin Collection Agency. Process and handle bad checks and refer to District Attorney's office for collection and prosecution. Assist with orientation for all student rotations and new clinicians. Maintain a daily AHC balancing status that is verified with CVM accounting. Process the closing of the fiscal year in client accounts to balance. Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. Two to four years clerical, customer service, accounting or related field. Ability to operate a computer keyboard to enter data. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of word processing and various software packages -or- Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of medical terms and procedures is desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent telephone and email communication skills, especially related to client service.
Must be capable of working in a team environment comprised of doctors, staff, and students to provide veterinary care of patients and aid in the instruction of veterinary students and veterinary technology students.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Moderate noise level. Exposure to ill animals upon admission to hospital. Minimal risk of bites or scratches. This position does require Saturday work hours.
Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands. Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
