Teach students in studio and core specialization courses in the Department of Building Construction Science. The BCS program is unique in its studio-based learning model in which students collaboratively work with their instructors, peers, and other relevant programs to enhance their content knowledge, technical competency, and leadership skills.

Salary Grade:  UC

Department Profile:

The Department of Building Construction Science (BCS) in the College of Architecture, Art, and Design invites applications for 2 nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor level starting in August of 2026. Located in a college that includes the disciplines of architecture, art, and interior design, the BCS Department utilizes a core curriculum of different six-credit, project-based studios that integrate multiple construction content areas coordinated to advance integrated design/construction education. Through its innovative approach to interdisciplinary education in the built environment, the BCS Department produces collaborative-minded construction professionals – critical thinkers who rigorously engage new challenges in the rapidly changing construction and business environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to teach studio and lecture courses in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs, engage in scholarly research, and participate in service. The studio format provides extended class time to allow for project development, team projects and lab exercises, collaborative efforts, and site activities. Successful candidates will have a 9-month appointment. Successful candidates should be prepared to teach in one or more of the following areas: Estimating, Scheduling, Construction Documents, Equipment, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Construction Technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Construction Management, or closely related fields.
Evidence of construction-related teaching and research, outreach and scholarship.
Excellent communication (oral, written, and digital) skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in high-impact teaching practices and active learning.
Progressive experience in the construction industry.
Advanced education, certification, professional registration, licensure, or other relevant credentials.
Ability to teach emerging and/or interdisciplinary topics in the built environment.
Additional qualifications to be considered for an Associate Professor position may be required, as well as an established body of research including external funding record, academic background and appropriate credentials.
Consistent and current record of funded research.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Successful candidate(s) will have teaching experience and a potential research agenda.
