The College of Veterinary Medicine, Mississippi State University, invites applications for a part time (0.3 FTE) clinical faculty member in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. This is a professional (non-tenure track) position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (dependent on prior experience and training). The position is held in the Diagnostic Laboratory Services (DLS) section in the Department of Pathobiology and Population Medicine at the CVM on the Starkville campus. The DLS is a part of the AAVLD fully accredited Mississippi Veterinary Research and Diagnostic Laboratory System, which has laboratories at three sites in Mississippi.

Salary Grade:  UC

Clinical Pathology

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities include clinical pathology service and teaching in the DVM program. It is expected that this 0.3 FTE position will allocate approximately 70% time (.21 FTE) to clinical service activities and 30% time (0.09 FTE) to teaching and teaching associated service. Some remote service work could be considered. The successful candidate will work directly with faculty, in-house clinicians, and referring veterinarians.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a DVM or equivalent with ACVP board certification in Clinical Pathology. Demonstrated collegiality and excellent communication skills are required. The ability to attain licensure (faculty or traditional licensure) in Mississippi is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent telephone and email communication skills, especially related to client service.
Must be capable of working in a team environment comprised of doctors, staff, and students to provide veterinary care of patients and aid in the instruction of veterinary students and veterinary technology students.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands. Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
