Department Profile:
The Department of Center for Safety and Health is the 21(d) OSHA Consultation Program for the State of Mississippi. The program is a free service to small and medium, high hazard businesses.
Anticipated Appointment Date:
January 2026.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1-Reports to the Mississippi State University Extension Center for Safety and Health Program Manager
2-Consultant conducts occupational safety and health surveys that include but not limited to; facility program assessment, analysis of injury and illness data, program review of all OSHA required written programs and recognition of occupational hazards per OSHA standards.
3-Surveys are conducted to private, high hazard companies throughout the State of Mississippi.
4-Consultant will maintain client files, develop technical reports, and track hazard abatements. Using Microsoft Office Products.
5-Consultant will conduct outreach activities as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Minimum - Bachelor's degree with a focus in Occupational health and safety, industrial engineering, technology, business management, and or related field.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years' with a focus in Manufacturing and occupational safety and health
Substitution: An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1-Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft Office
2-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
3-Ability to work both efficiently and effectively with clients and/or co-workers.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
1-Reliable personal transportation.
2-Occasional overnight travel.
3-Job frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling while traveling and during site visits.
