This position manages projects, data requests, and provides project financial data for the ISER. This position will monitor project activities through planning, delivery, and reporting and will support the project team members by enhancing project communication, organization, and delivery. This position reports to the Center Director and will also perform other duties requested by the Center Director and Associate Directors. Ranking qualifications within levels (I, II, III, and Senior) are based on education and experience.

Salary Grade:  13

Department Profile:

The Institute for Systems Engineering Research is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center and Mississippi State University. The goal of ISER's efforts and products is to mitigate risk, reduce cost and improve efficiency in Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs, serve as an additional asset for the state's industrial base for systems engineering related tasks, and create an environment that draws DoD and civilian industry development to the state of Mississippi.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Stays abreast of project goals and deadlines and tracks team’s progress toward meeting them.
2. Monitors ISER projects to ensure they are on time and within budget.
3. Coordinates logistics for the project team (training events, travel, meeting schedules, seminars, and conferences).
4. Coordinates and assists with project meetings for the ISER staff.
5. Ensures data collection and storage and assists with processes as needed.
6. Facilitates summer camps and training classes by interfacing with external entities.
7. Verifies that staff time and effort align with budget and project parameters.
8. Assists with reporting required by funding agency, involving team members in the process.
9. Coordinates center efforts by maintaining, collecting, compiling, analyzing, and editing project information needed for internal and external reporting.
10. Coordinates with appropriate support staff in tracking expenses, making purchases, and managing project budget resources.
11. Supports and assists with developing project deliverables (presentations, posters, manuscripts, research, evaluations, etc.)
12. Provides technical assistance as required by the position.
13. Continuously look for improvements of the ISER organization.
14. Performs other related duties requested by the Center Director or Associate Directors

Minimum Qualifications:

Level I: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline. No experience required.

Level II: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus 2 years of experience.

Level III: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus 4 years of experience.

Senior: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus 6 years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to read and write critically with enhanced clarity and comprehension.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team and independently.
4. Experience with Microsoft office suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe pdf).
5. Experience with configuration, backup, and recovery of computer systems such as servers, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, scanners, cameras, etc.)
6. Exceptional work ethic and self-motivated.
7. Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
8. Timeline management skills.
9. Ability to solve problems and to discover answers and solutions as needed.
10. Sharp focus and attention to detail in multiple processes.
11. Openness to learning new things.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
